The 2023 Football Writers' Festival was our biggest and best yet, held in the cultural precinct of Sydney in Walsh Bay (or Tar-Ra) just a few days prior to the kick-off in the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Many of our international visitors came especially and solely for the festival, while a handful stayed on to attend the World Cup also, at least for a short time.

The Football Writers' Festival returns after a year's hiatus due to you-know-what. There was one international speaker, Antony Sutton, author of ‘Support Your Local League’ and ‘The Itinerant Coach – the Life and Footballing Times of Steve Darby’. The Managing Director of the Australian Professional Leagues, Danny Townsend, was the special guest speaker.

The second Football Writers Festival was held in Manly, Sydney, in November 2020.  There were no international guests due to border closures because of the Covid-19 pandemic, and many interstate speakers and attendees could not attend due to domestic border closures. The CEO of Football Australia, James Johnson, closed the Festival in conversation with Vince Rugari of the Sydney Morning Herald.
