#FWF2020 new dates of 30-31 May

The 2020 Football Writers' Festival has been deferred for one week from its previous dates, in light of the football fundraising event for bushfire relief #FootballforFires, to be held in Sydney on Saturday 23 May.

#FootballforFires is a great opportunity for the football community to show their appreciation and recognition of the wonderful efforts of so many volunteer fire fighters, their families, the communities affected by the bushfires, and others involved in the effort to control and manage the tragic fires that have struck Australia so early in summer.

We congratulate Lou Sticca, Tribal Sports Group and ANZ Stadium on the initiative and join with everyone in the football community in saying how much we look forward to seeing some recent - and maybe not-so-recent - superstars of world and Australian football take part in the exhibition match.

To ensure that the enthusiastic and discerning members of the football community who are also interested in the Football Writers' Festival can get behind #FootballforFires, we have decided to put back the festival by one week to 30-31 May in Jamberoo.

We want to thank our international speakers (whose travel arrangements had already been made) for their willingness and cooperation in changing their arrangements, as well as our local speakers and the Jamberoo Pub.

We also thank our founding sponsors the Johnny Warren Football Foundation, Fair Play Publishing and Football Victoria for their ongoing support.

We urge football fans to support #FootballforFires by attending or watching the match - as well as attending the Football Writers' Festival the following week.

All those who have purchased tickets to the previous date (of 23-24 May 2020) have been offered a refund if they are unable to attend on the new dates of 30-31 May.
